Just as I was getting settled into working on some new material for upcoming projects, a power surge blew one of my studio monitor speakers (Ouch!) Even though I have headphones, it's much more comfy for me to produce music through speakers, so I hooked up my old, dusty, no-longer-in-production Audix monitor speakers, which I bought way back in 2001. Audix have since stopped producing monitor speakers and primarily produce microphones now.
Lo and behold, like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, they turned on without a hitch, and are still working like a charm, although I had to adjust to their sound signature once again. So while I wait eagerly for my Eve Audio monitor to be alive once again, I am enjoying producing on these for the time being, while reminiscing about the times when I was experimenting with the idea of producing music for fun. You know how music can remind you of times past in your life? For musicians, old music gear also remind us of our musical past, warts and all, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that!
