Road Trip #2 (The Epic One)

After the fun that was had during our epic road trip #1, it was only natural that we were looking forward to the super epic trip that was to span about 3000 km over a period of 12 days. The difference this time is that we actually rented a small campervan that would act as our transport, mobile home, bedroom, and mobile music studio all at once.

The promise of the cool breeze wafting though our hair was more than enough to get us thoroughly excited at road trip that would take us to various cities and towns across 1500 km and then another 1500 km back again. At first, we were toying around with the idea of renting one of those behemoth caravans, replete with an indoor kitchen, toilet and shower, but after thinking about it, we decided not to because we wouldn't be able to park in town, or at any mall parking lot. This was not going to be just any run-of-the-mill day-tripper...this was going to be one of those trips that would take us everywhere, including destinations far off the beaten path, usually not found in any common tourist itinerary. This was going to be a trip that would define us as travellers!

Our lovely caravan, a modified Toyota Hi Ace.

The great thing about Australia is the fact that being a country where its people love the spending time in the great outdoors, there are plenty of awesome caravan parks that offer great spaces for you to park your caravan for a few nights, and they have great facilities. They're almost like holiday resorts, complete with swimming pools, playgrounds etc., and some even have cabins for people who don't want to stay in tents or in their caravans. They have guest restroom and shower amenities which are kept very clean. You can even opt to have an en suite bathroom, where you park your caravan next to a bathroom that's just for your own usage, for an extra fee of course. Being the diva that I am, that was the option I insisted on, of course haha!

The little hut to the right of our van is the ensuite bathroom that I absolutely loved!

I'll post more from this epic trip in bits and pieces because putting it all on one post would result in an unbearably long read. So look for more posts of some of the places we visited, soon.

One thing's for sure, I have to say without any reservations whatsoever, this is really one of the best ways to get to know the country....by driving across it.
